Hey Guys, So this is a bit of a different post. I absolutely love buying beauty products. Even before this blog, it has always been my guilty pleasure to buy luxury beauty items. I have always told myself that the more things cost the better it'll be, right? No, that isn't always the case! Since trying new products for the blog I have to say that, if make up is good then it's good. Doesn't really matter about the price tag, if it works, it works! So with that said, I decided to try high end vs identical budget products. So here we have on the left Stila's magnificent metals foil finish eye shadow at £33.50 in the shade titanium,vs on the right Makeup Revolution awesome metals eye foils at just £4 in the shade Rose Gold. Okay first we have Stila with their Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow. These eyeshadows work by adding a drop of the liquid primer "stay all day" to the metal plate provided and then adding the foil finish eyeshadow, mix them together and it creates what looks like liquid metal! It applies absolutely amazingly, it's smooth, easy to use and manipulate and create such stunning eye looks. I have used this as both an eyeshadow and liner with a small synthetic brush blended out. The colour is beautiful and the payoff you get when applied is exactly as it looks in the pot, you can have it as a more subtle look or build it up and create a full coverage metallic look. It is long lasting and really doesn't budge, it's completely smudge proof, it doesn't run or look worn. I have wore it for 8 hours and it looked exactly as it did when applied. However when it comes to removing the product, as long as you have a decent make up remover, put it onto cotton pad leave over the eye for 20 seconds it will wipe of with ease, no tugging or pulling at the eye. The primer comes in a glass bottle with a dropper for easy and measure application which helps to minimise waste. You can also apply the primer straight on to the eyelid and then use your finger to pat the eyeshadow onto the lid, I have tried this way but I prefer to use the brush and have more control of the product. The packaging for this feels nice and heavy , it feels like a luxury item, the eyeshadow is in a metal tin and the primer bottle is made off glass. It came Stila's notorious brown boxes with the details of the product on the back (sorry guys I misplaced the box ) This product has 0.07 ounces of the eyeshadow product. Next we have Makeup Revolution's Awesome metals eye foils in Rose gold. This eyeshadow works exactly the same as Stila's by adding some of the primer into the metal disc provided and then the eyeshadow. The primer in this set is in a squeeze bottle and slightly harder to control than the glass dropper of the Stila product. The colour of this is absolutely beautiful. However this product takes far more layers to become opaque compared to the Stila's which only takes one. The colour is still beautiful it just takes more manipulation and I feel this dries up on the plate very quickly compared to the Stila product. Meaning you need to work quicker to apply the product. Once you have it on it stays in place, it doesn't crease or smudge. However it isn't quite as long lasting and only remained looking fresh for around 5 hours. Again removing this product was fairly easy, just soak your cotton pad with remover leave for 20 seconds and wipe away. The packaging for this feels far more flimsy, the metal disc is slightly larger however it is thinner and bends easier. The pot for the eyeshadow is plastic as well as the primer bottle. It feels far less expensive and quite cheaply made. There is 0.05 ounces of product which is slightly less. Above is both Stila's & Makeup Revolution's Metal foil eyeshadow with the flash on and off. So my final thoughts ; I absolutely love the colour of both. The grey is a gorgeous dark colour that looks amazing as both an eyeliner and a eyeshadow. The rose gold is a gorgeous eyeshadow and can be used with other eyeshadows. The obvious difference here is the price. The Stila is £33.50 and Makeup Revolution is £4 a fraction of the price. However I really didn't think that the quality of Makeup Revolutions Awesome metals foil finish eyeshadow was anywhere near the same as the Stila Magnificent metals foil finish eyeshadow. Stila's applies nicer, last longer, doesn't crease and dry up while on the small metal dish meaning you don't need to work faster. There are far more varieties of colour in the Stila's range than Makeup Revolution. The packaging for Stila's feels luxurious and high end where as Make up Revolutions felt cheap and almost like children's make up feels. I also prefer Stila's glass bottle with a dripper than the squeeze bottle. It had more control and therefor less waste of product. For those reasons I feel that Stila's Magnificent metals foil finish eyeshadow wins this round. I would however recommend both products, Especially if you are on a budget it is worth trying and seeing if you like this product before buying the more expensive option,so if that is the case then I would recommend the Make up Revolutions Awesome metals foil finish eyeshadow to play around with first, just remember that the products aren't exactly the same and the formula for Stila's Magnificent metals foil finish eyeshadow is much better. I really enjoyed doing this post & hope to keep it as a permanent line of blog posts. So keep tuned for another High End Vs Budget!! Until Next Time, Kayleigh ♡
